My mission is to reimagine and create immersive experiences through strategic design solutions for global brands that can foster relationship-building, develop new businesses, and create human-centric experiences.

My design process begins with clarity—understanding purpose, audience, and context to establish strong visual and strategic foundations. I apply balance, proportion, and hierarchy to shape ideas into cohesive, intentional forms. Through contrast, rhythm, and alignment, the concept gains energy, direction, and visual flow. Finally, refinement and unity ensure every detail works together seamlessly, delivering an experience that feels both thoughtful and elevatede

Shedrack Worrell

Shedrack Worrell is a Caribbean-American multidisciplinary designer, creative director, entrepreneur, and creative strategist whose work sits at the intersection of experiential design, events, interiors, spatial storytelling, brand development, and business strategy. His practice is grounded in a simple but powerful philosophy: design is a vessel for transformation. For Worrell, design is not simply about creating something beautiful; it is about creating environments, experiences, and ideas capable of changing how people feel, connect, behave, and remember. His relationship with experience began long before he formally identified as a designer. Worrell, born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago started his professional journey at just 19 years old in theatre arts as a stage manager, where he developed an early fascination with the mechanics of live storytelling.

Working behind the scenes of theatrical productions taught him how many disciplines must come together to create a single moment: staging, lighting, sound, timing, movement, talent, scenery, audience and atmosphere. His passion for stage management quickly expanded beyond theatre. He began stage managing concerts, parties and live events throughout Trinidad and Tobago, gaining hands-on exposure to the fast-moving world of event production.

Those early experiences became an unconventional design education. While his responsibility may have begun with ensuring that a production moved seamlessly from one cue to the next, he increasingly found himself drawn to the environments surrounding those productions: the décor, staging, florals, lighting, spatial arrangements and details that determined how audiences experienced a room. That curiosity eventually sharpened into a designer’s eye. Worrell began exploring how spaces could be intentionally composed to communicate emotion and tell stories.

What started backstage gradually evolved into a broader creative practice encompassing event design, décor, production and experience creation. That evolution led him to establish his first upSTAGEvents in Trinidad and Tobago, his first design and events company and the foundation of his entrepreneurial career. Founded in 2017, upSTAGEvents grew from Worrell’s background in stage management and theatre into a multidisciplinary event design and production business working across weddings, corporate experiences, social celebrations, experiential design and creative strategy. The company’s public profile still reflects those origins, listing stage management, theatrical design and theatre arts alongside event, experiential and strategic design among its areas of expertise. (LinkedIn)upSTAGEvents became both a business and a creative laboratory. It gave Worrell the opportunity to learn entrepreneurship while simultaneously refining his design language, managing clients, developing teams, understanding production and learning how creative ideas survive the realities of budgets, logistics and execution. Those formative years also connected him with mentors within Trinidad and Tobago’s event industry who helped shape his understanding of planning, responsibility and the operational discipline required to execute live experiences successfully.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Worrell relocated to the United States, entering a significantly larger and more competitive design and events market. In New York City, he worked with established design houses and creative professionals, gaining exposure to a different scale and standard of event design, production and hospitality. Immersion in the New York market further developed his eye, broadened his understanding of luxury and experiential design, and helped him refine the visual language, professional repertoire and multidisciplinary approach that would become characteristic of his work.New York also became a place of creative reinvention. Rather than abandoning his Caribbean foundation, Worrell began combining it with the influences of one of the world’s most culturally diverse design capitals.

His Caribbean sensibility, theatre background, entrepreneurial experience and exposure to New York design culture gradually converged into a practice that was less concerned with simply decorating spaces and increasingly concerned with designing experiences. His work has since expanded across the Caribbean, United States and Europe, including the execution of events and experiences in Paris and Italy. In 2026, upSTAGEvents extended its international portfolio with the design and planning of a Trinidadian-Italian destination wedding in Turin, Italy, creating an experience that intentionally blended Caribbean and Italian cultures.

Across his career, Worrell has contributed to experiences within some of New York City’s most recognized venues and cultural settings, including the New York Public Library, Lotte New York Palace, Capitale, Central Park Zoo, Mandarin Oriental, JW Marriott Essex House and Cipriani Wall Street, among others. His growing presence within the U.S. events industry was recognized in 2025 when BizBash named him one of its Fresh Faces, highlighting his impact across New York, Chicago and international markets and his work across cultures and geographies.

His continued evolution ultimately led to the establishment of SWD Agency, formerly Shedrack W. Design, a New York-based multidisciplinary design studio focused on event and experiential design, creative strategy and the creation of environments that tell stories. The agency describes its mission around designing experiences that create meaningful, lasting moments, extending Worrell’s practice beyond traditional event design into a broader exploration of experience, brand, space and human connection.

Alongside his professional practice, Worrell pursued graduate studies at Parsons School of Design – The New School, completing a Master of Science in Strategic Design for Global Leadership. His studies further connected his instinctive creative practice with design thinking, management, research and strategic problem-solving, strengthening his belief that designers can contribute not only to aesthetics but also to businesses, organizations and systems.

This intersection of design and strategy has become central to Worrell’s work. He approaches spaces as narratives rather than collections of objects. A room, in his view, communicates before anyone explains it. Lighting establishes mood. Texture can trigger memory. Scale creates tension or intimacy. Movement determines discovery. Florals, furniture, graphics, sound and architecture become components of a larger story. As Worrell has written about his own process, he rarely begins with colors, flowers, furniture or layouts. He begins with the story.

His philosophy is rooted in the belief that people often remember experiences not simply because of what they saw, but because of what those environments made them feel. That thinking ultimately led to the development of The Magic 8 Design Framework: A Blueprint for Creating Spaces That Tell a Story. Developed from years of designing and producing experiences across different markets, the Magic 8 Design Framework formalizes Worrell’s methodology into a practical system for designers and creative professionals. The framework brings together strategy, storytelling, human behavior and experience design, providing a structured way of moving from an initial idea toward an intentional physical experience. Worrell has described the framework as the culmination of years of real-world projects, lessons and challenges, created for designers, event professionals, experiential creatives, interior designers and others responsible for shaping environments.

At the center of the framework is the philosophy that has increasingly defined his career: Design is a vessel for transformation. It is a philosophy that challenges the idea of design as decoration alone. Worrell sees design as a medium through which ideas become tangible, stories become environments, businesses build stronger identities, and people can be transported emotionally from one state to another. Today, Worrell operates across the interconnected worlds of creative direction, experiential design, event design, interiors, floral design, strategic design and entrepreneurship. His writing and public commentary also explore subjects including nostalgia, human-centered design, emotional connection, cultural storytelling, brand experience and the changing role of experiential design.

His professional profile reflects services spanning brand, floral and interior design alongside event production, while his published work increasingly examines the strategic and psychological dimensions of how experiences are created. (LinkedIn)His trajectory from a 19-year-old stage manager in Trinidad and Tobago to a Caribbean-American designer building experiences across New York, the Caribbean and Europe reflects the same principle that guides his work today: transformation rarely happens in a single moment. It is built through a sequence of experiences.

For Shedrack Worrell, the stage may have changed, but the fundamental purpose has remained remarkably consistent: to tell stories, create moments and use design to transform the way people experience the world around them.
